Young Pappy

Young Pappy was born Shaquon Thomas on May 10th, 1995, and rose to prominence as a drill rapper from the North Side of Chicago, Illinois. He was affiliated with the Gangster Disciples gang, specifically the Insane Cutthroat Gangsters (PBG) set. His music, characterized by intense lyrics and raw storytelling, includes popular tracks such as Faneto, Homicide, Killa, and Savages. Tragically, on May 29, 2015, at around 1:30 a.m., Young Pappy was fatally shot at the 4800 block of North Kenmore Avenue.

Young Pappy Shot To Death

On May 29, 2015, Young Pappy was shot twice in the back while on North Kenmore Avenue. He was swiftly transported to a hospital where he was declared dead; he was merely 20 years old. Authorities have indicated that the shooting was likely gang-related.

This incident was not the first attempt on Young Pappy's life. In February 2014, he survived a shooting outside a McDonald's in Rogers Park, although a 17-year-old named Markeyo Carr tragically lost his life. Later that year, on July 12, 2014, Young Pappy was targeted again while walking on Devon Avenue. He escaped unharmed, but a stray bullet claimed the life of a photographer waiting for a bus.

Man Gunned Down For Dissing Young Pappy's Death

The aftermath of Young Pappy's death was fraught with violence. Clifton Frye was fatally shot by 17-year-old Germel Dossie after making disparaging remarks about Young Pappy's passing. Initially reported dead, Dossie was later found to be in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries weeks later. Like Young Pappy, Dossie was a member of the Gangster Disciples, affiliated with the PBG set.
