Santana Blocc Compton Crips (SBCC) originated in 1976, initially known as the 'Santana Boys,' with Kim 'Bullet' Tate among its founders. The gang began expanding its influence in 1978 when Ken 'Yogi' Tate and Rob Franklin established additional sets in the Oaks Park region of Compton, California, which became known as Santana Blocc Crips. That same year, Kim 'Bullet' Tate was tragically killed by a Lueders Park Piru member. Under the leadership of Kenneth 'Turtle' Johnson, the Santana Blocc Compton Crips emerged as one of the most active Crip gangs in the area, engaging in fierce conflicts with various Blood gangs, including Elm Street Pirus, Fruit Town Pirus, Cross Atlantic Piru, and the Mob Piru.
