Odee Perry was a member of the Black Disciples gang, fatally shot on August 10, 2011, in Chicago, Illinois. He was struck by a bullet in the neck and died shortly after being transported to the hospital. His attackers were never caught. In tribute to Odee, the Black Disciples faction he belonged to began calling themselves O'Block.
Years after his death, numerous rappers from the Black Disciples paid homage to Odee in their music. Fredo Santana, a rapper and fellow Black Disciples member, honored Odee in his song 'On That' with the lyrics, “BANG BANG like Chief Keef, R.I.P to Odee!” Despite the praise from his peers, Odee Perry is frequently disparaged by rival Gangster Disciples rappers, such as Lil Jay.
Who Killed Odee Perry?
In 2013, Lil Jay, a member of Tooka Gang, shared a controversial picture on his Twitter account with the caption “#Gang Shout Out to RHEM(Them) twins that made O Block #Seriously.” Many believe that the individuals in the center of the photo are connected to Odee Perry’s murder, with Gakirah Barnes on the right and STL Butta on the left. Gakirah herself was killed on April 11, 2014, and her death is widely considered to have been an act of gang retaliation.
