Lil Marc, born Marc Campbell, was a rapper originating from the South Side of Chicago, known for his affiliation with the 051 Young Money, a faction of the Mickey Cobras. Tragically, on March 28, 2014, his life was cut short by gunfire while he was at a bus stop, succumbing to his injuries shortly thereafter.
Lil Marc was an integral part of the drill music scene, a sub-genre of hip hop that vividly portrays the harsh realities of life in Chicago's crime-ridden neighborhoods. This genre is often characterized by its artists being gang-affiliated, using their music as a platform to confront rivals. Among his popular tracks, "Zeko World" stands out, a tribute to Isaiah Zeko Walker, a fellow gang member who was also slain. In "Zeko World," a pointed lyrical attack was made against 'Billionaire Black,' a member of the Gangster Disciples from Welch World.
Lil Marc's Death
On that fateful Saturday in March 2014, Lil Marc was fatally shot while awaiting a bus. His death is widely perceived as a consequence of the relentless gang violence afflicting Chicago. Just days before his murder, Lil Marc had released a provocative music video titled 'Competition' on YouTube, where he openly disparaged several rival gangs and deceased gang members. In a chilling parallel, Lil Marc was related to Shondale 'Tooka' Gregory, who was similarly killed in 2011 while waiting for a bus.
Lil Marc was merely 20 years old when he was murdered and was anticipating the birth of his son with his girlfriend.
Who Killed Lil Marc
The identity of Lil Marc's killer remains a mystery, though it is speculated that the attack was carried out by members of 46 Terror, a faction linked to the THF gang.
