L’A Capone, born Leonard Anderson on September 18, 1996, in the South Side of Chicago, Illinois, was an emerging rapper who gained recognition through his association with Lil Durk. He appeared in several of Durk's music videos and was a member of the Black Disciples gang, much like Chief Keef and Lil Durk. L’A was frequently seen alongside fellow rapper RondoNumbaNine and his stepbrother, Qwap, often shouting out “GDK,” a term meaning “Gangster Disciples Killer.” The Gangster Disciples were known rivals of the Black Disciples. Tragically, L’A Capone’s promising career was cut short when he was shot in the thigh by a gunman on September 26, 2013. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries on the operating table at just 17 years old. In 2014, three individuals—Sakhee Hardy-Johnson, 17, Michael Mays, 21, and Meiko Buchanan, 22—were charged in connection with his death.

L’A Capone Death
On the evening of September 26, 2013, L’A Capone left a recording studio and was making his way to meet his ride when he was ambushed in an alley near 70th Street and Stony Island Avenue. He was shot multiple times, with bullets striking his thigh and lower back. However, later that evening, he mourned the loss of his 'Lil Bro' on Twitter.
Who Killed L'A Capone?
Speculation surrounded the identity of L’A Capone’s killers, with many suspecting rival gang activity. L’A Capone’s gang, 600, was known to be in conflict with several factions, including the Gangster Disciples. In his song "Play For Keeps," he infamously dissed a deceased member of their gang, escalating tensions further. The primary suspects in his murder were believed to be members of the 051 Young Money gang, affiliated with the Mickey Cobras. In August 2014, authorities charged Sakhee Hardy-Johnson and Michael Mays, both from 051 Young Money, with first-degree murder. Meiko Buchanan, alleged to be the driver of a trailing vehicle, was also charged. All three reportedly confessed to their roles in the crime during police interviews.
