Gangster Two Six

The origins of the Two Six's can be traced back to a baseball team formed in 1964 in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood. Known as the Two Sixers, their name was derived from their roots in the 26th Street community. However, the team soon took a darker turn as some members began selling drugs, leading to the gang's formation.

As the Two Sixers were establishing themselves, the Latin Kings, a rival gang, expanded their influence into the Southside, including Little Village. The Latin Kings began asserting control over the area, clashing with the Two Sixers as both groups competed to sell drugs, which heightened tensions and led to frequent confrontations.

The Latin Kings weren't the only adversaries the Two Sixers faced, but they were the most significant threat. As conflicts escalated, the Two Sixers evolved from a baseball team into a gang, recruiting new members to bolster their ranks. They staked their claim on territories around Sawyer, 24th-23rd streets, and a portion of 26th Street, thus becoming recognized as the Two Six Boys. Disillusioned youths in the Little Village area, frustrated with the Latin Kings and other gangs, found solidarity with the Two Six Boys.

In their early days, the Two Six Boys fought against various gangs, including the Ambrose, Satan Disciples, Kool Gang, and Villa Lobos. By the 1970s, their reputation had grown, leading to increased recruitment. Under the leadership of David Ayala in the late 1970s, they expanded into Brighton Park, Pilsen, and Back of the Yards.

The Two Six's solidified their power by joining forces with the Folk Nation and the Familia Latino Disciples Nation (F.L.D.N.) in 1975. This alliance, which included the Spanish Cobras, Satan Disciples, Imperial Gangsters, Latin Eagles, and the Two Six's, formed a unified Latino Folk gang presence in Chicago. This unity brought the Two Six's into collaboration with former enemies like Ambrose and facilitated their involvement with the Gangster Disciples (GDs) and Satan Disciples (SDs).

In the 1980s, the Two Six's presence expanded across Chicago, with strongholds from Central Park to Kostner and 24th to 32nd streets, along with various significant locations. They infiltrated schools such as Eli Whitney Grade School, Corkery Grade School, Curie High School, Gary Grade School, and Farragut High School.

A pivotal moment occurred on October 16, 1981, when David Ayala, then 18, killed two Latin King members. He was sentenced to life in prison in 1983, a sentence he continues to serve at the Tamms Correctional Facility.

By the late 1980s, the Two Six's were at war with the SDs after an SD member killed a Darkside Two Six member, causing a rift within the F.L.D.N. Despite efforts to curb gang violence, this conflict persisted.

The 1990s saw the Two Six's grow into one of Chicago's fastest-expanding gangs. They extended their operations to Cicero, IL, clashing with fellow Folk Nation gangs like Ambrose and the Two Two Boys. Friction with these gangs often erupted into violence, particularly after an incident where the Two Six's disrupted a party and opened fire.

The ongoing war with the SDs intensified during the 1990s, exacerbated by the lax enforcement of Folk Nation bylaws. In 1996, another significant conflict arose with the Gangster Disciples.

Notorious for their violent tactics, the Two Six's have been known for their readiness to shoot rivals since the 1960s.
