The Four Corner Hustlers (4CH) emerged around 1967, founded by "King" Walter Wheat, Freddy "Malik" Gauge, Monroe "Money" Banks, and Richard "Lefthand" Goodman. Initially forming in Chicago's West Garfield Park, the gang's early activities included petty crime and vandalism, with a strict rule against victimizing community members. Originally, their colors were brown and black. They later allied with the Apache Vice Lords, adopting their black and gold colors and symbols.
During the late 1960s and 1970s, 4CH remained a small group, primarily engaging in theft and robbery, often targeting freight trains and trucks. The 1980s crack epidemic shifted their focus to drug trafficking, escalating violence within their ranks. This period saw Monroe "Money" Banks leading an influential faction, adopting the Black Diamond as their symbol, and amassing significant wealth through narcotics sales.
Freddy Gauge's death in the late 1980s left Wheat as the sole leader, but internal disputes continued. By the early 1990s, Monroe Banks challenged Wheat's leadership, eventually leading Wheat to step down. Banks was later murdered in 1992, sparking further internal strife. Younger members began distancing from the Vice Lords, appealing to members with more favorable terms in drug profits.
Angelo Roberts, a young leader, gained prominence but was controversial due to his violent methods and alleged orchestrations of hits on gang founders. After his arrest and eventual escape, he attempted a high-profile attack on a police station but was ultimately killed in 1995. His legacy persists in factions that honor his tactics, despite the chaos they caused.

Four Corner Hustlers(4CH) Symbols
The Four Corner Hustlers' symbols, derived from the Vice Lords, include the cane (strength), top hat (shelter), dice (hustling), dollar sign (money), playboy bunny (swiftness), martini glass (celebration), and white gloves (purity). The unique Black Diamond, borrowed from the Mad Black Souls, became a symbol of independence under Monroe Banks' leadership. Angelo Roberts further popularized the Black Diamond, emphasizing "love, hate, kill, take" as its four points, though this was never officially codified. Today, 4CH remains a distinct entity, with the Black Diamond holding significant symbolic power.
