Brick Squad is a notorious faction of the criminal gang Gangster Disciples, entrenched in the streets of 69th and Eggleston in Chicago. Known formally as '069 Bricksquad,' the numeral signifies their territorial claim and sets them apart from other groups using the 'Bricksquad' moniker. This gang should not be confused with '1017 BrickSquad,' a record label founded by rapper Gucci Mane.
The group gained widespread notoriety following the tragic shooting of one of their members, rapper Joseph 'Lil Jojo' Coleman. This incident is widely believed to be linked to a violent rivalry with members of the Black Disciples, including the rapper Chief Keef. Lil Jojo frequently referenced his gang in his music, notably in songs like 'Tied Up,' where he raps, “Smoke Em Like Some Dope When We Roll Up - BrickSquad The Police Can't Control Us.”
