Lean (Purple Drank, Sizzurp) is a drink mixture used heavily by young individuals to get high. Though one of the main ingredients for lean requires a doctor's prescription, the recipe itself is very easy, which is why it's heavily abused. The drink is believed to have been created in Houston, Texas and is heavily promoted in hip hop and pop culture.
The original recipe for lean is to mix the following ingredients in a styrofoam cup:
- Cough Syrup(Prescription strength) with Promethazine and Codeine
- Original Sprite
- Jolly Ranchers
Most of the ingredients can be switched for similar ingredients such as, flavor sodas instead of sprite, or skittles instead of Jolly Ranchers.
Once the ingredients are mixed into the cup, the drink's color will turn to purple as a result of the dye from the cough syrup. After drinking lean, users will feel euphoria as a result of the codeine and motor skill impairment as a result of the promethazine.
